Research shows we can measurably and systematically reduce violence within our campus community.

Power-based personal violence happens to such a staggering degree that the only workable solution must involve a broad-based, good ole’ fashioned social movement. Each significant stride in human rights has been fueled by and built upon a social movement, consisting of enough individuals simply raising their voices saying, “This is no longer acceptable. Today is the day we reclaim our fundamental right to something better.” One Green Dot at a time, this is our moment in history to reclaim our right to live free of violence and fear of violence (adapted from "Live the Green Dot").

No one has to do everything. Everyone has to do something. 

How can students get connected with green dot at 米兰体育?

Campus Green Dot trainers are available to facilitate training sessions for students throughout the semester. We offer a full 3-hour student training or a 1-hour overview. Both trainings teach the skills needed to be an active bystander.

HOW CAN Faculty and Staff GET CONNECTED WITH GREEN DOT AT DEPAUW?

Campus Green Dot trainers (composed of 米兰体育 Student Life staff members) are available to facilitate training sessions for faculty and staff throughout the semester. We can also offer our one-hour overview training to your class.

What can I expect from attending a Green Dot Training?

Our training sessions are designed to enhance the influence of students and equip them to take a prominent role in addressing power-based personal violence. Learning objectives include:

1. Participants will connect more consciously to their opinions regarding the role and responsibility of the bystander.
2. Participants will understand the basic elements of culture change and feel inspired to make a positive contribution. 
3. Participants will recognize behaviors that may constitute dating/domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking – or behaviors that may be immediate precursors to these types of violence.
4. Participants will increase intrinsic motivation to intervene in order to reduce harm after violence has started, reduce the likelihood that it will happen again, or reduce the likelihood that it will happen at all.
5. Participants will recognize barriers that may prevent them from doing something in the face of potential power-based personal violence.
6. Participants will develop realistic intervention options given their unique set of barriers.
7. Participants will feel equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to proactively engage peers in positive culture change through role modeling, use of social media and conversations.
